Twitter has evolved from a site showing status message, to a search site. How Bing!, or google is for web search, Twitter is going on the route to become the search engine where people gets all latest happenings around the world. It is becoming the place where people go to see what’s happening in the world. It has all possibilities to be the #1 news aggregator soon. I’m not a Nostradamus of Internet, but it certainly looks like.

I’m still in a haunted feeling after all the news I read, and hear about people in the Vanni camps in Sri Lanka. I’m not sure who is right here, if it is LTTE or the GoSL, and I’m not here to judge either one of them.

Only people in loss are those innocent souls living inside camps (no matter it is Vanni camp, or in Refugee camps in various part of TamilNadu). I’ve been thinking for a long time how can I be of a little help towards these people. I along with few of my colleagues, friends, cousins are trying to help few of the students from a few Refugee camps in TN to pursue their higher education. We choose to help for education because there are a quite a few already doing a lot of work in taking care of the food, other expenses, and we believe giving a person education will enable him/her to light up few others in those camps.

We are trying to create a formal channel to collate the funds, and help the students with. We are also thinking to connect the students directly with the donors of the money so that they can be sure of their money going directly towards the education.

What a song! I’ve been hearing this song for a while now, but didn’t go deeper into the lyrics. Now, everytime I read / listen to the song, I get different meaning for the lines, I cannot really explain how it feels me, but feels very good!

Is this the time to put Google aside a bit, and try out something new for the search? Microsoft calls it’s new search thingy a decision engine.

A friend of mine just said, BING stands for Bing Is Not Google (just like GNU – GNU Not Unix). One other said, BING – But Its Not Google, and another Because Is Not Google. WOW – a little word, lot of thoughts.

I’m sure there would have been a lot more thoughts behind the name, and I simple love the new brand. I hope it closes the gap in the search traffic by avoiding a monopoly. Let’s wait and watch!

April 9, 1983 : It was a fine morning in the town of Tiruppur where a middle class business man was tensed, and looking nervous. His wife was admitted for delivery, and both were praying for a male child for 7 years after their 2nd girl was born.

He jumped with joy when the nurse came out with a little boy on her hands to show his treasure. He went ahead and expressed his happiness to all his friends, and family. Soon after the little boy was brought home, he was considered as an angel to his 2 beautiful loving caring sisters. They did almost anything for him.

When the boy started going to school, it was his sisters who got him ready for school, right from putting shoe polish, to combing his hair. His mom used to take him to school very early in the morning, and wait in the bus stop for the school bus much before anybody else in the village.

When the boy started growing up, his dad had developed a lot of dreams. He dreamt his boy study a bit, and at least becoming an engineer. He just went to high school(SSLC), and never attended college. He wanted to see his son being an engineer.

But here his son is. But God had different plans for the dad, he was such a lovely person. God thought he will place him in heaven, just near him. He was not able to see his dream come true, but his wife made sure she is going to make anything and everything to get her husband’s dream come true. It might be a very small dream, but for a person coming from such a background (wealthy, but not literate) it is a very big thing.

26 years have passed, not really sure what I’ve achieved other than fulfilling my dad’s dream. Much life awaited, and it should be more challenging than ever.
